Atlanta Shakespeare Company presents Measure for Measure

Measure For Measure, Shakespeare Tavern - William Shakespeare's 1604 "problem play" defies straightforward categorization in that it blends comic elements with darker themes of control, subterfuge, passion and justice, culminating in an ending that lets some nefarious types off the hook. Apparently, the Tavern's production will show the citizens of Vienna "expressing free love" as well as a male character who sexually harasses a female one. Set in Vienna, protagonists with names like Pompey Bum and Mistress Overdone go about their business under the tenet that "some rise by sin, and some by virtue fall," as the playwright eloquently puts it. - Kevin C.
