Oktoberfest opens with a community run, like the parades in Munich of yore. Lederhosen and dirndls encouraged.
11am — 5k Run
12pm — Keg tap, the traditional way, mallet strikes and all. Fewer strikes, better omen.
1pm — Mainline Music Festival takes the stage in the Biergarten. Free show.
Oktoberfest itself began as a parade — the 1810 wedding procession for Bavarian Crown Prince Ludwig — before it was ever a beer festival.
