Hurricane Wisdom at Center Stage

Hurricane Wisdom, Center Stage — The XXL Freshman list has continued to grow more controversial and admittedly less interesting with every passing year, but you can always depend on XXL to highlight at least a few truly promising artists. This year, one of those artists was Hurricane Wisdom, a Florida-born Nigerian-American artist signed to Rebel Music and Gamma. His latest release, the aptly-titled “Weathering the Storm,” dropped in August, and the thoughtful and melodic 19-track effort is largely a solo endeavor, save for the two lone guest features from Chance the Rapper and Gunna. Hurricane Wisdom is taking the album on the road for the 20-date Weathering the World tour, and one of the first dates on the schedule is Atlanta. Center Stage is the perfect venue for proving one’s staying power in this industry. Check out “Weathering the Storm” and grab tickets to see Hurricane Wisdom in person. — joshua robinson
