Lavahi

LAVAHI is a scholar-artist whose music, writing, and performances aim to nourish the heart, challenge the mind, and connect human experiences. Deeply influenced by jazz traditions, her sound blends acrobatic scatting, improvisation, and a mix of analog and digital elements, setting her apart from mainstream neo-soul, hip-hop, and R&B. Since 2010, LAVAHI has collaborated across genres, contributing to projects like Lori Williams’s Hold On and Hospital Records’ Rest Assured. A multi-instrumentalist, producer, and arranger, she is equally at home in the studio and on stage, performing at venues like City Winery and Blues Alley. As a scholar, her work bridges popular culture and critical theory, notably contributing to The Lemonade Reader with her essay on Beyoncé. Through all her creative outlets, LAVAHI fosters spaces for reflection, dialogue, and shared artistic experience.
