DQE

Formed in 1986 in Atlanta, DQE (originally Dairy Queen Empire) was founded by singer-songwriter Grace Braun, photographer Chris Verene, and drummer Zak Sitter. The band later re-centered around Braun — who now goes by Anna Trodglen — and her husband, drummer and music writer Dugan Trodglen. Known for its shifting lineup and indie roots, DQE has maintained a cult following through its lo-fi aesthetic and Braun's distinct songwriting voice.
