Solex

Solex is the musical project of Dutch artist Elisabeth Esselink, formerly of the indie/noise pop group Sonetic Vet. Drawing inspiration from unsold records in her Amsterdam shop, she began crafting sample-based songs using an antique 8-track recorder. Her debut album Solex vs. the Hitmeister established her quirky, collage-driven sound. Later releases expanded her use of field recordings and live samples. She has collaborated with artists like Gerling and The Go! Team, and released albums through the Matador label. The project is named after the French moped manufacturer Solex.
