Vigilantes Of Love
Vigilantes of Love was an American rock band led by singer-songwriter Bill Mallonee and rooted in the music scene of Athens, Georgia. Named after the New Order song “Love Vigilantes,” the group blended folk, Americana, and country rock with occasional touches of alternative and college rock. Formed in 1990 as an acoustic side project, the band initially featured Mallonee alongside Mark Hall and Jonathan “Dog-Mess Jonny” Evans. Over time, the lineup evolved into a full touring rock band, with key members including guitarist Billy Holmes, bassist David LaBruyere, and drummer Travis McNabb. Known for their spiritually charged lyrics and earnest songwriting, the group released several albums throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, including Summershine, which hinted at Britpop influences later heard in Mallonee’s solo work.
