Dan Garcia

Dan Garcia is a self-taught artist. He became interested in painting as a young man after seeing paintings by wildlife artists like Maynard Reese and Robert Bateman. His early paintings were done in oil. Dan was an executive in the retail industry and with limited time for painting he switched to faster drying acrylic paint. It was during this period that his style and subject matter began to change dramatically. He discovered that thin layers of paint created the effects that he was looking for when painting his favorite subjects, which were waterfowl. When Dan discovered colored pencils, his love of drawing and layering of colors, which he learned from acrylic painting, was a natural fit. His crisp colored pencil drawings and strong composition bring the viewer back again and again for a closer look.
