MUSS & TURNER’S is much more than a classic deli, but even if you strip away the cooking classes, the vacuum-sealed gourmet meals and the evening menu of such dishes as wild stripe bass bouillabaisse and grilled hanger steak, you’re still left with the best deli meats and sandwich menu in the city. Well, it’s not exactly in the city. It’s in Smyrna, but it’s certainly good enough that people from all parts of Atlanta journey there. However, if you order at least $100 worth of food, the deli will deliver (with 48 hours notice). less...

The perennial complaint of New York transplants is the lack of a good deli in the Atlanta area. Todd Mussman and Ryan Turner changed that this year when they opened MUSS & TURNER’S in Smyrna. Part gourmet grocery, part sandwich shop, part cooking school, part takeout restaurant, the shop is attracting foodies from all over the city — especially NYC transplants in search of the best pastrami and corned beef available. Everyone’s favorite sandwich is the lamb burger, but plenty of other options abound. There are also remarkable prepared meals, vacuum-packed and easy to heat by dunking in boiling water, and an excellent collection of cheeses.

Serving rotisserie, fried and barbecue chicken (choose from regular, crispy or Szechuan), Publix deli seems to be a staunch advocate of the "Eat More Chicken" campaign. And its custom-made deli sandwiches are giving Subway a run for the money. Soft baguettes, fresh meats and cheeses (cut on site — not prepackaged) topped with mouth-watering oils and spices are drawing in lunch crowds every day of the week. There are also prepared salads (mostly of the mayonnaise-based variety), fountain drinks and bottled juices. less...

Serving 38 specialty sandwiches, including three different Reubens, the New Yorker is a little taste of Manhattan in the heart of Buckhead. The place to pit-stop before picnicking, you can pick up juices, sodas or seltzers, avocados, olives, sauerkraut and fresh, marinated mozzarella balls with teardrop tomatoes while waiting on your sandwich from the deli. We recommend the potato knish with spicy mustard. less...
