Progressive rock progenitors Yes, and their pop successors Toto have teamed up for a co-headlining tour this summer that hits Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park on Sat., Aug. 22.

?
Earlier this year, Toto released XIV, the group's first new studio album in over ten years, which debuted in the top 10 in nine countries around the world. Founder member guitarist Steve Lukather recently caught up with CL, and mentioned that the mystical sword exhibited on the front of the new album was originally the concept of the late Jeff Porcaro, Toto's founding drummer and session man extraordinaire. The sword has coincidentally appeared on all of Toto's breakthrough albums and XIV is no exception. Lukather refers to it as "A good luck charm as well as a tip of the hat to our fallen brother." He was also enthused for the tour with Yes, a band that inspired Toto in its chop honing youth. There's a lot of bang for the buck on this double headlining bill and Luke reckons that hardcore Yes fans will get a chance to see that Toto have more to offer than just being "that 'Africa' band."
