?Update: MauriceGarland.com posted a new joint from Pill today, which, as he notes, is appropriately titled "It's All On Me."

It seemed like an odd fit from the beginning. But that didn't stop Asylum/Warner Bros. from pairing a scrappy MC from the underbelly of Atlanta with Miami's bawse of flash and pomp. From an image standpoint at least, Pill and Rick Ross respectively represented opposite sides of the game. It's no surprise that the force-fit failed.

In yesterday's interview with MTV's RapFix (above), Pill confirmed the rumors that he's no longer with Mayback Music Group, Rick Ross' imprint with Asylum/Warner Bros. In fact, Pill said, he never officially was.
?
"I never signed any paperwork with Ross. It was just my deal was over at Warner already," Pill told MTV — a fact made apparent by the arms-length distance at which Ross seemed to keep Pill since publicly welcoming him to MMG one year ago. Despite being featured on MMG's Self Made Vol. 1 collaborative album and on last year's cover of XXL with Ross and MMG, Pill's role seemed diminished compared to highly-visible MMG affiliates Wale and Meek Mill. "I never really went on tour with them; I never really did anything with them," Pill continued.

When CL featured Pill on the cover two years ago, he was the talk of the town — a street-certified rapper with a buzz so strong that the New York Times was even on his jock.
