Hoss’ roster is filled with noise, hip-hop and avant-grunge
Former ATL label is about to drop a whole lot of strange new sounds

After a year and a half spent lying in semi-limbo, the formerly Atlanta-based Hoss Records, currently located in Brooklyn, has some interesting new releases that are ready to drop. First up Nupping, the debut LP from Baltimore’s Dope Body (co-produced by Hoss boss R. Mexico) is set to hit the streets on May 3. The album is a noise rock monster that dabbles in stripped-down art-punk and an avant-grunge scrape while maintaining an undeniable pop sensibility.

Hoss is also reissuing Jones Jones Jones, the debut from Baltimore’s psych-rap experimentalist Jones, with a run of hand-screened LPs that are limited to 500 copies. There will be CD and digital versions as well. Due out June 14.

Douche Chills, the long-awaited debut album from Mexcellent, will also see a release later this year, along with the first full-length from Baltimore’s hip-hop-noise auteur DJ Dog Dick. Stay tuned for more.
