D.R.E.S. and World Famous Mic Club bring that beat back

Two and a half years after leaving Apache Cafe, Mic Club makes the Royal Peacock home

?
Gotta love the way this video has been edited to serve as both an advertisement for the World Famous Mic Club brand and a documentary of its last night at Apache Cafe. When Atlanta's long-standing MC battle and hip-hop showcase returns tonight at the Royal Peacock on Auburn Ave., two and a half years will have passed since it abruptly ended after host/promoter D.R.E.S. Tha Beatnik and Asa Fain (owner, Apache Cafe) failed to negotiate a new contract after six years. In between, it called the Masquerade home for a short time, but I have a feeling it will flourish again at the legendary Peacock.

?
But back to the video. Watch how D.R.E.S. transforms from promoter to something akin to a politico giving his stump speech. Coincidentally, I got to sit down with him a couple of months ago and he gave me the back story of his evolution from Andre Lett to D.R.E.S. tha Beatnik of 4Kings Ent. Pretty epic.
