If the BET series "Still Standing," which draws to a close tonight, has seemed tame compared to the typical reality TV fare, show star Monica wouldn't have it any other way. In the decade since witnessing a former boyfriend commit suicide, the darling of Atlanta R&B has worked hard to quell the turmoil that once erupted in her life.

"Ten years ago if I had done a reality show, there would've been plenty of drama for them to see," she says, periodically taking bites of her lunch at downtown Atlanta's 30 Tables restaurant. "But that's not where I am now. I think it's because I took breaks. It was very necessary for me to step away. Now, I'm in a more mature place, professionally and personally."
