NOTED ACTS?
?JOHN FOGERTY, MARCIA BALL, AARON NEVILLE — Fogerty had one of the most legitimate comebacks in recent memory, combining effective new material with the classics from his Creedence days and solo work. Marcia Ball is the boogie woogie piano queen who can rock the house and Aaron Neville is the giant with the voice of an angel. Neville's recent material has bordered on MOR pabulum, but when he reaches back into his past glory all is forgiven. Chastain Park Amphitheater (Kelly)
PEARL JAM, SONIC YOUTH, SUPERGRASS — They're not the hot concert ticket they used to be, but Pearl Jam still have a volatile stage presence and an epic performer in frontman Eddie Vedder. Fresh off a tragedy in Denmark where eight fans were crushed to death at their show, the Seattle rockers hit Atlanta on the fourth stop of an American tour in support of new release Binaural. Expect to hear '90s classics like "Jeremy," "Even Flow," "Daughter" and "Better Man" along with some harder-edged material from Binaural. Classic white noise rockers Sonic Youth and Brit pop/rock sensation Supergrass open. Phillips Arena (Kimes)
THREE GENERATIONS — As part of the convention for the archaic-sounding National Association of Negro Musicians, this concert features three accomplished baritone vocalists of varying ages: Benjamin Matthews, William Warfield and Robert Sims. Together they perform work ranging from African-American spirituals to classical repertoire. For more information, call 404-681-2800. King Chapel/Morehouse College (Sarig)
