THURS/JANUARY 4
PUDDIN, THE FEATURES — Puddin is the shaky Jell-O delight featuring former Loaded Dice and Julius Pleaser teaser Kim Breenan. A creamy, ballsy ’70s metallic attack. The Features are a Nashville-based pop band that utilizes film and slides over a psychedelic soundscape of clever late-’70s pop flourishes. Think XTC meets the Cars. Star Bar (Smith)
STB, NILLAH, PINKEYE — Lovers of female-fronted rock ‘n’ roll should be in frothy formation tonight to witness this impressive and varied bill. STB, featuring the instantly disarming alarm-clock jolt of Sonia Tetlow, will chew up the world and spit it toward the bar. Nillah, featuring newlyweds Greg and Eli, will politely pop and rock the tiny stage after a short blast from the Pinkeye ladies. Get there early to see what provocative costumes they’ve selected for the occasion. The Earl (Smith)
THE TENDER IDOLS, ADOM — The Brit-poppers continue to Idol-ize Smith’s with their seemingly millionth show at the upstairs venue. Ian Webber and his Anglo-rockin’ gang will be joined tonight by Adom, a fitting Euro-bookend to the Idols with their U2 posturing and airy, arena-ready sound, and Audiobridge.
