AND YOU WILL KNOW US BY THE TRAIL OF DEAD — A punkish rock band with too much energy for its own good, You Will... wreck everything in site. Their last disc, '99's Madonna, is one hell of a record, proof that they've got more than just youthful zest on their side. 40 Watt Club/Athens (Foy)
THE BETA BAND — Britain's the Beta Band combine influences from psychedelic folk to breakbeats, disco to dub, boogie to R&B into a surreal pop swirl that comes out distinctly Beta. Though they seemed to merely go through the motions this past summer opening for Radiohead, this intimate venue will bring out their renowned eccentricities. Variety Playhouse (Ware)
LONG BEACH DUB ALLSTARS — While they may never fully emerge from the shadow of being the guys leftover from Sublime after the death of its frontman, Brad Nowell, the Long Beach Dub Allstars still manage to kick out some tasty West Coast dub grooves. Throw on the kneepads, grease up the longboard and bomb the hill on North Ave. — it's time to chill, bruh. Masquerade (Hutchinson)
