Flo Rida R.O.O.T.S.
Add chopped-up pop hits from yesteryear to the nonsensical, fast-paced delivery of the man born Tramar Dillard, and you get nearly every song on Flo Rida's second album, R.O.O.T.S. — an acronym so painful you'll have to look it up for yourself. Little more than glorified karaoke, R.O.O.T.S. boasts reworkings of too many songs to mention here, but notable samples include tunes by Tina Turner, Black Eyed Peas, Eiffel 65 and Dead Or Alive - the latter of which, "Right Round," recently set a record for the most first-week downloads. It's a lot of fun, as are many of the tracks, but you, too, could make a pretty fun record if you had these guaranteed earworms to work with. As for Flo Rida, he only raps at one speed and his cadence rarely varies. His most impressive trick here is somehow managing to make fellow Dade County MC Rick Ross sound nimble on the mic. 2 out of 5 stars
