Bookseller vs. Mayor, Round 2

Score another point for George Anderson, the Rome bookseller and Georgia’s unofficial government watchdog. On March 23, Gov. Roy Barnes ordered a judge to hold a hearing to examine Anderson’s allegations that Mayor Bill Campbell has acted unethically.

The alleged violations stem from two chartered plane rides Campbell took to Las Vegas and New York in 1999 — flights provided by Robert Crowder, head of Brencor Inc.

The complaint brought to Barnes isn’t the first time Anderson has singled out Campbell for being ethically shaky. He filed complaints with the city ethics board and asked the Atlanta City Council to hold an investigation into whether Campbell’s alleged violations should force him from office. ??
