Police executed a search warrant at a home on Beckwith Street. The home is occupied by a fat man, age 22, and a thin man, age 23. Both attend Georgia State University. During the search, police found a red bookbag on a kitchen table. It contained 134 baggies of suspected marijuana (148 grams). Both men were arrested. But the thin 23-year-old kept saying, "[My roommate] sells the marijuana. I'm a medical student."
A man walked into a trucking company on Menlo Drive and asked for a job. No jobs were currently available. So the man asked to use the restroom. A 60-year-old male employee directed him to the restroom. After a few minutes, the employee heard the sound of a running car engine. He looked out the window and saw the man driving away in a red Cherokee Jeep. Soon after, the employee realized that the trucking company's payroll bag (which contained $2,500) was gone.
A 27-year-old Decatur man parked his 2001 Honda Civic at a parking lot at Hartsfield Airport. When he returned to the car, he found a note on the window. The note read: "The scratches on your car are from your dumb parking job." The entire car had been keyed.
A 40-year-old man was ordering some food at a deli on Mitchell Street when another man walked inside. The 40-year-old man walked up to the man — whom he didn't know — and asked him how much money he made as a barber in the shop next door. The 40-year-old said he had several businesses and asked the man if he wanted to earn some extra money by working for his cleaning service. The 40-year-old also explained that he was bisexual. According to the 40-year-old, the man got angry and said, "Motherfucker what? Don't you know I will kill you? I will fuck you up. Don't talk to me like that." The 40-year-old ran behind the deli counter. The man followed and punched the 40-year-old in the face.
At an apartment on McLendon Avenue, a 26-year-old woman said her bedroom is located between her roommate's bedroom and the kitchen. She said her roommate walks through her bedroom to get to the kitchen, and she doesn't want her to do that. The 26-year-old said when she tries to talk to her roommate about this, the roommate calls her schizophrenic. She said the landlord told her to find a new roommate and the current roommate would be evicted.
In an apartment on Lindsay Street, a 19-year-old woman said she and her live-in boyfriend, age 41, had been arguing since they ate dinner the previous night. She said he was mad because his car was towed, and because she ordered too much at dinner, causing the food bill to rise to $13. This morning, she said, he grabbed her by the neck, hit her back, and bent her fingers. She refused medical treatment. She said she is two months pregnant and her boyfriend knows it. He fled before police arrived.
A police officer was flagged down by an employee of a pizza restaurant in Little Five Points. The employee said a man just broke the restaurant window by pushing a chair through it. The man, a 21-year-old from Sandy Springs, wore desert camouflage pants, a red camouflage shirt and black loafers. He went to jail.
A police officer investigated a fight at a home on Braebum Drive. A 42-year-old woman said her father raised his cane at her and was about to hit her. She said her boyfriend grabbed the cane to prevent the strike. The father, age 68, denied this. The father pointed out that he is blind. The father said sometimes he is locked in the house by himself and cannot get out. The father said when he comes home from daycare on the bus, no one is at home to let him in the house. The daughter didn't want her father arrested; instead, she wanted her father taken to the psychiatric ward at Grady Hospital. She said she no longer wants her father to live with her. The officer said that since the father had lived with the daughter for four months, the daughter needed to contact the DeKalb Sheriff's Department to have him evicted. The father didn't want to go to the psychiatric ward at Grady. "After interviewing him, he appeared mentally competent," wrote the officer. The father was picked up by his other daughter and taken to her house.
An officer investigated a car accident on Peachtree Road. A Nissan Sentra had struck a concrete median in the middle of the street. The driver, a 55-year-old Fayetteville man, said he didn't see the median. The driver, who smelled of alcohol, was leaning against a pole to keep his balance. The officer asked the driver if he had been drinking. The driver said he had a Hennessy, a Heineken, a ginger ale and another Heineken about an hour ago. After failing several sobriety tests, the driver was arrested for DUI. En route to jail, the driver fell asleep in the patrol car.
In an apartment on Canterbury Road, a 23-year-old woman said her boyfriend told her he was sleeping with other women and she means nothing to him. She said she was leaving the apartment when they got into a fight about clothes and ownership of items in their apartment. The boyfriend said his girlfriend thinks he is sleeping around. He said he was only trying to leave the apartment when he was attacked by his girlfriend and her cat. Since both the boyfriend and girlfriend had superficial injuries, both went to jail.
