After last week’s slam-bang cat-n-mouse-n-cat-n-mouse-n-other-less-clued-in-cats extravaganza, in which Dexter’s secret identity as a serial killer came barreling toward his domesticated life in classic Dexter fashion—featuring kills, clever reversals, and desperately needed acceleration of season five’s master plot—we’re back to an hour of place-setting, in which a convenient accident puts the dead girls under the nose of Miami homicide, the Big Bad of the season is revealed, and… not much else. Dexter introduces Lumen to baby Harrison. Quinn bothers Debra about moving in together (after a month). And the Santa Muerte case goes in yet another long, lazy circle.
