Is having half a face a hot new look about to sweep TV dramas? Is Two-Face about to make a comeback? Just a week after Gus Fring’s cosmetic adjustments, shall we say, on the season finale of “Breaking Bad,” “Boardwalk Empire” takes a long, hard look at Richard Harrow’s unmasked profile. Like Gus and some of “Game of Thrones’” main characters, Harrow seems to be developing an independent, meme-able life outside the confines of his show. The hideously-scarred, weirdly masked crime sniper comes across as strangely innocent and vulnerable. Jack Huston’s posture makes Harrow endearing, since he’s so upright and attentive, with head slightly cocked, there’s something birdlike about him. People already have crushes on him.

Harrow takes center stage in one of this week’s subplots, unexpectedly bonding with Jimmy’s wife Angela. The episode reminds us that Angela was an aspiring painter, and this week, Harrow and Angela find common ground in an interest in the arts. Harrow mentions that he used to like drawing, and says that when he was overseas, he saw some paintings from di Cirico, who made figures that looked like mannequins. Obviously, Harrow’s mask has a mannequin quality.
