Maurice Garland interviews City of Ink's Miya Bailey

CL contributor Maurice Garland has a new video interview with City of Ink's Miya Bailey up on his website www.mauricegarland.com. Garland spoke with Bailey at last weekend's Atlanta Tattoo Arts Festival about tattoos (of course) but more specifically, about tattoos and race. Interesting stuff about being black and part of the tattoo industry as well as the innovations, such as custom colors, City of Ink's artists have been and continue to work on:

One of the things that stood out was the role that race played in the tattoo world. When I say race, I don't even mean as in racism really. I'm talking about how Black folks that really enjoy tattoos don't always get what to have what they want because of the color of their skin, literally.

Its said that in tattooing, the only colors that Black people "can get" are red, black and green. I didn't see that until I thought about all of my friends that have tatts and realized that all of them ONLY have those colors. COI specializes in creating more colors and methods that work on Black skin.
