Know your bloggers: Art Relish’s Jason Parker

Atlanta’s got a number of dedicated arts blogs. After Cinque Hick’s story this month on a changing critical media landscape, we decided to profile the men and women behind the curtain.

What’s your name?

Jason Parker

How old are you?

38

How long have you lived in Atlanta?

We moved here from Savannah in June 2006.

What’s your day job?

I’m the Social Media Manager for SCAD, sometimes known as “the Facebook guy.”

Do you have a background in art?

I do. My undergrad degree is in photography from UGA. And I’m pursuing my MFA in photography from SCAD, one class at a time over five long years. I dearly hope to finish this year.

Why did you start Art Relish and how long has it been around?

Art Relish grew out of my involvement with the Photo Awesome group back in 06/07 and an idea from Brett Osborn about creating a calendar to bring together all the visual art happenings around Atlanta. When I moved here, someone had told me that Atlanta’s really a connected network of very small towns. That was pretty much true in general but it seemed especially true in art. There was no single place that focused on visual art. I created the site and launched it in September 2007.
