Wanna park near Piedmont Park and Beltline? Gravel lot at 10th and Monroe will cost ya.

Project officials partner with Lanier Parking, plan to charge $3-5

The days of free parking at the gravel lot at 10th and Monroe to go fly a kite, walk your dog, or make some friends at the well-known cruising hot spot are over.

Beltline officials today said they've partnered with Lanier Parking Solutions to manage the expansive lot located near Park Tavern and Piedmont Park. The property is part of a large parcel purchased in 2008 by Atlanta Beltline Inc., the nonprofit entity tasked with planning and developing the $2.8 billion, 22-mile loop of parks and trails.

Lanier will install automated systems that accept cash and credit cards in mid-August. In the meantime, officials say, Lanier attendants to collect parking fees.

Initial parking rates, which officials say are subject to change and will be enforced 24-7, will be $3 during the week, $5 on weekends and $10 for high-volume events. Patrons of Park Tavern, the previous managers of the lot, will receive discounted rates for parking. Parking will be managed to accommodate special events at the Piedmont Garden Tent and Piedmont Room.

Revenue generated from the deal will "support the maintenance, development and operating expenses of the Atlanta Beltline project."
