Atlanta’s literary belles hit the pages of Vanity Fair

Sheri Joseph, Susan Rebecca White, Karin Slaughter, Amanda Gable, Joshilyn Jackson, Natasha Trethewey, Emily Griffin, and Jessica Handler all appear in the two-page spread, alongside “Kitty” Stockett.

Image Vanity Fair’s February 2011 issue (which hits newsstands this week with a lipstick-smeared Justin Beiber on the cover) features a glamorous spread of writers from Atlanta. As Alan Deutschman points out in the accompanying article, the reading world at large is already well-acquainted with Kathryn Stockett, author of the mega-successful novel The Help, but they might not be as familiar with the other talented women writing in Atlanta these days. Sheri Joseph, Susan Rebecca White, Karin Slaughter, Amanda Gable, Joshilyn Jackson, Natasha Trethewey, Emily Griffin, and Jessica Handler all appear in the two-page spread, alongside “Kitty” Stockett. We’re happy to say that Creative Loafing has been writing about more than a couple of these locals for awhile now, even though we’ve never had the chance to put any of them in an Oscar de la Renta dress and take their picture behind a mansion in Buckhead.

You can check out a couple small scans of the spread after the jump, but you’ll have to pick up a copy of the issue to fully appreciate the evening-dress and big-hat glory.
