A day with SPECTRE, Atlanta's most organized group of urban explorers
On a recent Saturday morning, we decided to try to sneak into prison
On a recent Saturday morning, three urban explorers were kind enough to give CL Photographer Joeff Davis and me a personal tour for this week's cover story about the loosely organized subculture that has made a hobby of documenting the city's abandoned schools, factories and other crumbling buildings. Our itinerary included stops at the Atlanta Prison Farm and an abandoned school. For several hours, we slipped through open gates, ducked under hanging shards of metal, and peered into rusted cells where prisoners once spent their days. Here's a gallery of our afternoon exploring the city's modern ruins.
