Kevin Nealon to make Punchline audiences interested. VERY interested.

SNL's Mr. Subliminal and 'Weeds' toking accountant brings stand-up to Atlanta. (Buy ticket!)

Playing The Punchline Aug. 26-28, Kevin Nealon does such a good job at playing cheerful, blithering white collar airheads that it's easy to take him for granted. Currently playing pothead number-cruncher Doug Wilson on "Weeds," Nealon was a "Saturday Night Live" regular for nine years (1986-1995), but never sticks in the memory as effectively as cast-mates like Dana Carvey on Phil Hartman. I always enjoyed Nealon's Bob Waldman sketches as a Barbara Walter-esque interviewer, and how he'd turn to the camera and leer when he made a celebrity cry. "Mr. Subliminal," Nealon's imperceptively manipulative ad man, almost describes his presence on the show. Perhaps he should team up with the likes of Eugene Levy and Fred Willard in one of Christopher Guest's improvised movies.

Nevertheless, Nealon's worked to build up his on-line presence. He's cleverly designed his website to look like scribbles on a yellow legal pad, and and goofed on the viral video trend. Here's clip of Nealon doing his "porn review" bit that I originally saw on "SNL."
