3rd annual Atlanta Moon Ride

The Atlanta Moon Ride returns for its third year on Friday, June 19th.

Since 2012, the Atlanta Moon Ride has created a safe and traffic-free environment for families, friends, and bike enthusiasts to explore Atlanta on two wheels. This year’s event takes place Fri., June 19, and for $30 per person, bikers will receive an Atlanta Moon Ride T-shirt and entry to the kick-off party. Proceeds benefit Bert’s Big Adventure, a local nonprofit that provides an all-expenses-paid five-day trip to Disney World for children with chronic and terminal illnesses and their families.

“I founded this nighttime bike ride because my wife and I love Bert’s Big Adventure,” founder Joel Darby said in a statement. “I hoped that with this concept and help from the community, we could make an impactful donation and spread awareness for the charity.”

Registration and the kick-off party begin at 6 p.m. on Friday at Piedmont Park, featuring live music from Ruby Velle & the Soulphonics, a wide variety of food trucks, such as the Fry Guy and Tex’s Taco’s, and premium brews and cocktails for guests 21 and older.

The 6.5-mile bike ride starts at 10 p.m., and begins and ends at Piedmont Park. Participating bikers will ride through Virginia-Highland, Little Five Points, Inman Park, and the Atlanta Beltline — all traffic-free. Costumes are encouraged!
