Omnivore - Sean Brock wins Best Chef in the Southeast James Beard Award

For the 2nd year in a row, James Beard’s Best Chef in the Southeast award went to a Charleston chef.

I told you Charleston was kicking our ass. For the 2nd year in a row, James Beard’s Best Chef in the Southeast award went to a Charleston chef. Sean Brock was the lucky and deserving recipient last night, beating out Atlanta’s Linton Hopkins, Athens’ Hugh Acheson, and Chapel Hill’s Andrea Reusing and Bill Smith.

Brock is the extremely talented leader of the kitchen at McCrady’s in Charleston, where he also runs a number of farms that supply the restaurant with much of its meat and produce. I’ve been an admirer of his food for many years. Congrats, Sean!

You can see a list of all the winners on the James Beard website.
