Omnivore - Hurry to Taqueria del Sol for their best dish ever

Hatch Green Chile Festival is this Sunday

This chile relleno is one of my favorite Atlanta dishes. It's available only a short time each year at Taqueria del Sol. You have time to get one, dinnertime only,

What makes it special? It's the famous Hatch Green chile, considered by many to be the best chile in the world. Its flavor is usually mild, but now and then, you'll hit a pretty hot one. They're $5 each and I've frequently made a meal out of 2 or 3 of them. There are other dishes made with the chiles, too.

Incidentally, the restaurant's wildly popular Hatch Green Chile Festival is this Sunday, Sept. 9, outside the Howell Mill location. There are two "servings," at 5 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Chef Eddie Hernandez prepares a menu of specialties featuring the chiles. Tickets are $18.25. Sales are limited to 300 per time slot.

And here's some news from Taco Nazi George Trusler: Taqueria del Sol has sold 26 franchises. A few were scheduled to open this week in Florida and Philadelphia. It's the gourmet Taco Bell!
