Quicksand plays the Masquerade on Sept. 19.

Quicksand left a mark in the '90s, playing bedrock post-hardcore sounds, coming up alongside such like minded acts as Fugazi and Helmet. The New York City four-piece endured two tumultuous tours supporting 1993's Slip and 1995's Manic Compression for a small but loyal fanbase. Sleeper hits such as "Dine Alone," "Omission" and "Thorn In My Side" eluded mainstream attention, while conflict within the band led to a breakup at the height of the group's success. But time has been kind to Quicksand; over the years the group's legend has grown, drawing wholly new generations of listeners. After reuniting in 2012 to go back on the road, the group is now ramping up for the November release of Interiors (Epitaph), Quicksand's first proper album in 22 years.
