Chef Evan Cordes, formerly of Cakes & Ale and Serpas True Food, will open Cast Iron sometime this fall. The new restaurant, which will feature “seasonal dishes for all occasions or no occasion at all, nothing too fancy,” will replace the recently shuttered Last Word on Highland Avenue.

Bon Glaze has opened its second location and first ITP spot at 3792 Roswell Road in Buckhead. Bon Glaze specializes in “classic glazed doughnuts in decadent flavors,” such as cotton candy, orange Fanta with pastry crème, key lime, and lemon meringue along with coffee drinks.
TropQ – short for "Ty's Recipes Zero Preservatives Quality Ice Cream” – is slated to open in the first quarter of 2017 at Castleberry Hill's 131 Walker Street development, according to What Now Atlanta. The Maryland-based creamery and café offers made-to-order treats that cater to kids with food allergies and who want a vegan option. TropQ has one location in Maryland and five shops under way in the Washington, D.C. area.
T.I.’s Downtown Southern restaurant, Scales 925, has closed after multiple financial controversies. Last week, T.I. (né Clifford Harris) and his business partner Charles Hughes were served an eviction notice by their landlord, who alleged the pair owed $1 million in unpaid rent. As recently as Aug. 18, the Scales 925 Facebook page, which previously announced new management, according to Eater, lists the restaurant as permanently closed. About two months ago, former Scales 925 employees filed a lawsuit against both owners for unpaid wages. Harris and Hughes have not released statements about the financial dispute nor the status of the restaurant.
Louisiana Bistreaux is slated to open at 1496 Church St. in Decatur within the next two weeks. The second location of the East Point restaurant will feature “classic Creole dishes,” including jambalaya, gumbo, and shrimp and crawfish etouffee.
