James Beard Award-winning chef and restaurateur Hugh Acheson has joined Denver-based Punch Bowl Social, a Southern-style chain featuring “old-school games,” such as bowling and pool. As “culinary partner,” Acheson will inject soulfulness into the chain’s menu as he overhauls it. Punch Bowl Social has locations in Portland, Austin, Detroit, Cleveland, and Schaumburg, Illinois.

Steven and Nick Carse of King of Pops are teaming up with organic farmer Cory Mosser to open a mini farmers market at Ponce City Market on Sat., Aug. 27. The 250-square-foot King of Crops Farm Stand will open across from King of Pops Bar and Good Grub and sell King of Crops produce straight from the brothers’ farm along with fruits, vegetables, meats, dairy products, and specialty goods from other local farmers and producers.




Texas-based cookie operation Tiff’s Treats will host the grand opening of its second metro Atlanta location at 848 Spring St. N.W. On Sat., Aug. 27, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Everyone in line will be entered for a shot at free cookies for a year, and attendees can get a dozen cookies for $2 with proceeds benefiting pediatric brain cancer research nonprofit Ian’s Friends Foundation. The first 40 people will receive prizes and gift cards.




Details are scarce, but Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville Holdings plans to bring its restaurant concept to Centennial Olympic Park, according to the Atlanta Business Chronicle. Margaritaville Holdings has reportedly been in talks with SkyView Atlanta. Stay tuned.




Papi’s Cuban & Caribbean Grill will open at Emory Point development in the former Bonefish Grill space on Clifton Road. Known for its Cuban sandwiches, Papi’s currently has several metro Atlanta locations, including one in Midtown.
