Quick Bites: Ponce City Market sets beer garden opening date, Cajun-Vietnamese fusion moves into former Top Flr space, and more

Nine Mile Station, Ponce City Market’s rooftop beer garden and cocktail bar, is scheduled to open on Mon., Oct. 17. Top toque Jonathan McDowell, formerly of Barcelona Wine Bar, has created a European-inspired New American menu that includes a mixed grill featuring steak, pork, chicken, and vegetables; charcuterie and sausages; crudité; and more. Nine Mile Station will also have 12 beers on tap, bottled choices, and varied wine and craft cocktail selections.

 

A Cajun-style concept will open on the ground floor of former Midtown hotspot Top Flr (674 Myrtle St. N.E.) late this year, according to What Now Atlanta. Bon Ton, a collaboration between Top Flr owner Darren Carr and the Crawfish Shack’s Hieu Pham, is billed as a New Orleans-style seafood restaurant with Vietnamese flare. Carr says Bon Ton will have a heavy focus on libations and $15-$25 entrées.

Vivian Howard, producer and host of PBS’ “A Chef’s Life,” will conclude Gunshow’s “Hired Guns” 2016 season on Sun., Oct. 23 and Mon., Oct. 24. Howard has won a Daytime Emmy, a Peabody Award, and the 2016 James Beard Award for Outstanding Personality/Host and has been a semifinalist for the James Beard Foundation's Best Chef: South award every yeah since 2011.

 

Caribou Coffee and Einstein Bros. Bagels’ new co-branded concept, Coffee and Bagels, will open in Atlantic House, the under-construction high-rise complex at 1163 W. Peachtree St., reports What Now Atlanta. This will be the first Atlanta location of the joint venture, second in the state to one in Athens. The Coffee & Bagels menu will feature Caribou coffee and specialty drinks and Einstein Bros.’ bagels and sandwiches.

Bhavesh Patel, former top toque at Table 1280 and chef de cuisine at the late Spice Market, will be the top toque at Amara, the Indian fusion resto scheduled to open this fall at 870 Inman Village Parkway N.E. Patel will feature an Indian-inspired American menu at Amara, which is located adjacent to the Beltline’s Eastside trail.

Both locations of locally owned Seven Hens have closed and will be replaced by new concepts. A poke bar, the Los Angeles-based Hawaiian fish bowl concept, will reportedly replace the Sandy Springs location (6615 Roswell Road N.E., Suite 340), and Korean street food concept Bull-Gogi will move into the Decatur space.
