Who are you?
Mekenzie Jackson (Stevie) and Alex Thrift (Lindsey).
Describe yourself in three words.
Artistic, musical, tenacious.
If you could start one trend what would it be?
MARTA. Seriously. An expansion of MARTA. We’re pretty sure there are lots of other folks in this town who agree.
If you could end one trend what trend would it be?
Tribute Bands. We’re laughing, but it’s true. We’re waiting for an Air Supply Tribute to pop up ...
Which one is the better album, Rumours or Tusk?
Let’s break it down like this, because this is the hardest question ever; we’re going to try our best here.
Rumours was written at the height of all the Fleetwood Mac drama and it made them bazillions of dollars. Tusk was a product of those bazillions of dollars, but it wasn’t just some rich kid musician showing off his mediocre production skills and trying to be artistic. Lindsey Buckingham was actually an incredible producer and that record is, in our opinion, one of the greatest artistic records of all time. It’s “weird music” gold.
We both like Rumours better as a record, because obviously it’s one of the greatest of all time, but it’s also extremely well written from a popular music standpoint. You could feel everything that was happening in that studio with those words on that record. With Tusk, you only feel that with a few of the songs, but you can hear the art oozing out of it.
What song do you wish you had written?
Alex: "Gypsy"
Mekenzie: "Silver Springs"
What monster scares you the most?
DONALD TRUMP.
Who in Atlanta deserves a raise?
Bryan Malone (Star Bar) and Sean McPherson (Smith’s Olde Bar) and we’ll tell you why. Those two dudes helped us get where we’re at in this town and we owe them a lot. So, thank you Bryan and Sean. But, they’re also two of the most in-the-know guys out there. They get the best bands, they’re everywhere you want to be, and they know what they’re doing. They’re also musicians and very talented ones at that.
