On Jan. 6, SweetWater Brewing Co. will unveil a new building, a new brand, and some clever new barrels as part of its innovative Woodlands Project. A two-story building next to SweetWater’s current packaging and bottle-conditioning facilities, the Woodlands Project is a 37,000-square-foot space that will produce barrel-aged artisan beers under the Woodlands name. The facility isolates Brettanomyces, Lactobacillus, Pediococcus and other bugs, allowing them to intermingle with the wood, leading to new flavor profiles. All Woodlands brews will be small batch limited releases. Woodlands will debut its first brew, Through the Brambles, a blackberry Brett beer, on opening day.
The Beacon Atlanta is slated to add Marguerite’s Jerk Bistro, a casual sit-down Jamaican-fusion restaurant, to its tenant roster. A project from veteran chef and caterer Charlene Marguerite Diaz, Marguerite’s will serve Jamaican favorites such as jerk chicken, turkey, and shrimp; oxtails; calypso corn; and curry goat for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
