CLAVVS shine with 'Future Gold'
The fourth single from the group's sophomore album, 'World Underwater,' revels in the mysteries of things to come
“Future Gold” is latest offering from Atlanta trip hop duo CLAVVS, featuring four-time Grammy-winning producer Graham Marsh and writer and vocalist Amber Renee. It’s the fourth single from their sophomore album, World Underwater, due out March 24.
World Underwater is the follow up to 2016 mini album Halfblood. “Future Gold,” along with the album’s previously released singles “Glass Skin,” “Serpentine,” and “Bloom,” shines a hypnotic light on what’s shaping up to be a collection of songs that pushes the group’s telltale trip-hop and Atlanta hip-hop inspired traipse to wholly new planes of pop murk and mystery.
“The future is very seductive,” Renee says. “I think we all long to know what she holds, but this song is a warning against that, a sort of reminder that the future is beautiful because of her mystery. She will inevitably come and we’ll face her when she does. Until then, ride the wave.”
CLAVVS plays the World Underwater album release party w/ Thrice Groove at Aisle 5 on Fri., March 24. $10. 9 p.m. 1123 Euclid Ave. N.E. www.aisle5atl.com.
