George Clinton is an iconic American singer, songwriter, and producer, best known as the leader of the Parliament-Funkadelic collective, which revolutionized funk music in the 1970s with its blend of Afrofuturism, psychedelic sounds, and surreal humor. Clinton launched a successful solo career in 1982 and his pioneering work has greatly influenced hip-hop and G-funk in the 1990s. Widely regarded as one of the key innovators of funk, alongside James Brown and Sly Stone, Clinton was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997 and received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2019.
