Rising Glasgow/London-based dance-punk trio Shopping takes its brand of whip-smart funk on the road this spring. Since forming in 2012, singer and guitarist Rachel Aggs, bass player, singer, and guitarist Billy Easter, and drummer Andrew Milk, have turned out driving, nimble punk songs reminiscent of Pylon and the Delta 5. The group’s latest release, 2018’s The Official Body, was produced by Edwyn Collins of Orange Juice fame, and recalls the punchy, deadpan output of their Scottish predecessors. Lead single “The Hype” finds the band at its laid-back-yet-precocious best, featuring plodding bass and primitive party vibes. Though Aggs and her bandmates often tackle the weighty issues of conformity, consumerism, and body image, Shopping’s songs are always delivered with cerebral hooks, fun, and grooves that go down easily. With French Vanilla, Shepherds, and Blammo. $8-$10. 9 p.m. Fri., March 9. 529, 529 Flat Shoals Ave. S.E. 404-228-6769. www.529atlanta.com.
