Iconic characters such as Magneto, the Titular King, and Gandalf may be deeply embedded in film culture, but what about the man behind the costume? Sir Ian Murray McKellen has played many parts and reached new heights as an actor in films such as The Lord of the Rings, the Hobbit, X-Men, Gods and Monsters, Richard III, and more. Guests are invited to explore the English actor’s life the with a special screening of McKellen: Playing the Part at Landmark’s Midtown Art Cinema. Directed by Joe Stephenson, McKellen’s story is told in an intimate fashion with never before seen material pieced together around a 14 hour interview. The exclusive event is one night only, so c'mon. I mean, anyone who plays Gandalf that well has got to be pretty badass.
