This year, admission to the event grants guests access to the entire aquarium. Wander through the halls and celebrate America’s birthday with the city’s favorite penguins, whale sharks and other aquatic animals. $50-$65. 6:30-10 p.m. Sat., July 1. Georgia Aquarium, 225 Baker St. 404-581-4000. www.georgiaaquarium.org.

Hush Hush Red and Blue Silent Disco Neighbor’s Pub becomes a silent disco club as Hush Hush comes to town. Although these discos may look a bit awkward with everyone dancing to a different beat, it doesn’t mean guests have any less fun. The combination of listening to only your favorite music and generating zero noise complaints all but guarantees a good night. $12-$25. 5-7 p.m. Sat., July 1. Neighbor’s Pub, 752 N. Highland Ave. 404-872-5440. www.neighborsatlanta.com.

4th of July SweetWater Patio Takeover Chef Michael Bertozzi will grill out all afternoon, while SweetWater presents its favorite red, white and brews for the holiday. Guests can enjoy the food, booze and tunes as they people-watch the Beltline. The event is free with the purchase of food or a beverage. 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sat., July 1. Two Urban Licks, 820 Ralph McGill Blvd. 404-522-4622. www.twourbanlicks.com.

Terminus City BBQ Kevin Gillespie’s Terminus City takes over the Communion Cantina for a Fourth of July backyard fiesta. Guests of all ages can enjoy barbecue, libations and games just behind Gillespie’s Southern family-style restaurant, Revival. The menu includes chopped whole hog and pimento cheese, and sangria, cervezas and margaritas. $12-$15. Noon-6 p.m. Tues., July 4. Revival, 129 Church St., Decatur. 404-225-6770. www.revivaldecatur.com.

Dowdy Girl Beach Ball Extravaganza Rowdy Dowdy, an inconspicuous house in southwest Atlanta, claims to host the weirdest and wackiest dance parties in the city. For the Fourth, it’ll bring the party outside with some poolside patriotism. The theme of the day is Beachy and Bitchy, so dress accordingly. Look out for the Wet Drag Queen Contest and the Dowdy Girl fashion show. Music performances include Michael Myerz, Twin Studies and more. Free-$5. 5 p.m. Tues., July 4. Rowdy Dowdy, 1300 Sylvan Road S.W. www.facebook.com/rowdyatdowdy.

Fourth of July Celebration The pop of Fourth of July fireworks get even louder this year at the Southeast’s largest fireworks show. Lenox Square and Centennial Olympic Park are combining their efforts for the first time this year. As Lenox shifts its focus to daytime activities, starting with the Peachtree Road Race, it’ll lend financial support to Centennial. The musical lineup includes Bobby Brown, Ann Nesby, CeCe Peniston, Algebra Besset, Chelsea Shag and more. With only one major firework extravaganza this year, it’ll be bigger and better than ever. Spots are sure to fill quickly, so go ahead and nab one at dawn. Free-$5. 6 p.m. Tues., July 4. Centennial Olympic Park, 265 Park Ave. West N.W. www.centennialpark.com.

Atlanta United FC vs. San Jose Earthquakes Celebrate both American patriotism and Atlanta pride by going to an Atlanta United FC game. The team takes on the San Jose Earthquakes in the Georgia Tech stadium. The roar of the crowd may be even louder than the fireworks as all of Atlanta turns out to rally for this new team. $30-$80. 7-10 p.m. Tues., July 4. Bobby Dodd Stadium, 150 Bobby Dodd Way. www.atlutd.com.

Peachtree Road Race A roundup of July 4th events would be incomplete without mention of the Peachtree Road Race. The staple event of the Atlanta running scene brings in more than 60,000 people a year, making it the biggest 10K in the world. If you aren’t up for the heat, hills and humidity make a sign and camp out on a sidewalk to cheer on everyone else. The runners love grabbing goodies from the sidelines, beer included. $35-$40. 7:30 a.m. Tues., July 4. Lenox Square, 3393 Peachtree Road N.E. www.atlantatrackclub.org.

A Benefit for the IRC Even though President Trump’s explicitly discriminatory travel ban continues to be thwarted in court, it has still spread waves of animosity against refugees. Such a xenophobic political climate makes organizations like the International Rescue Committee (IRC) all the more crucial. Some of Atlanta’s punk luminaries are combining forces to raise money for the IRC in solidarity with its mission to provide essential services to refugees. The lineup features an array of talent representing the breadth of Atlanta punk, from Fishmonger’s bare-knuckles thrashing to Shepherds’ soulful dissonance. All proceeds will be donated directly to the IRC. With Fishmonger, U.S. Drag, Casual Tiger, Cashmere, Trashcan. $7. 9 p.m. Tues., July 4. 529, 529 Flat Shoals Ave S.E. 404-228-6769. www.529atlanta.com.
