NEWS BRIEF: Forest coalition opposes plans for police training facility
The South River Forest Coalition (SRFC) has adopted a resolution opposing the construction of a law enforcement training camp on a city-owned 350-acre property in DeKalb County that had previously been designated for greenspace. The SRFC consists of residents of the City of Atlanta and unincorporated DeKalb as well as civic, business, neighborhood, and environmental organizations. The resolution states, in part: “The SRFC supports the highest and best use of the former Prison Farm property for Atlanta communities as a core tract of green infrastructure to be protected in perpetuity as passive greenspace, for urban forest and ecological habitat.” atlantaintownpaper.com
