Spending by Georgia’s Black population is on the rise, according to data released last week by the University of Georgia’s Selig Center for Economic Growth. The total income in 2020 of Black residents, after taxes, was reported to be $118 billion, having grown from 67 billion in 2010. UGA’s 2021 Multicultural Economy report says the combined purchasing power of African Americans, Asian Americans, Hispanics and Native Americans in the country as a whole has increased from $458 billion in 1990 to $3 trillion in 2020. uga.edu
