The former president of the Atlanta Hawks and Philips Arena is suing a kayak-renting company in Florida for damages after contracting a flesh-eating bacteria. Bob Williams alleges in his lawsuit against Bay Breeze Paddle Adventures of Tampa Bay that he became infected with an organism called necrotizing fasciitis after falling out of a small boat he had rented. Williams, 68, suffered septic shock and underwent surgery that left him with permanent injuries. He became the Hawks’ president in 2010, and is now the CEO of Align Sports & Entertainment. miamiherald.com
