Two bills now under consideration by the Georgia Senate Committee on State and Local Governmental Operations would change the composition of major governing entities in Gwinnett County, Georgia’s second-largest and one of its most diverse.Democrats say the bills are a power-grab by white Republicans eager to regain lost ground, and that the removal of a Black-majority district violates the federal Voting Rights Act. “I find it very hard to believe this is not an attack on people of color in Gwinnett County,” said state Rep. Jasmine Clark of Lilburn. apnews.com
