An updated noise ordinance just passed by the Lawrenceville City Council will take effect on Dec. 1. It measures the level of noise on a “plainly audible standard” with restrictions for day and time and specifically addresses fireworks, landscape maintenance devices, engine, mufflers and/or exhaust system noises, construction noises, and commercial entities near single-family residential zoning districts. There are, however, some exceptions to the rules: noise made by law enforcement, first responders and other safety officials performing public functions; noises created by safety signals and warning devices, and noises emanating from aircraft or airport operations. lawrencevillega.org
