Agnes Scott College in Decatur held a ceremony last week for Edna Lowe Swift, its first Black graduate. Swift, 72, graduated 50 years ago after majoring in Spanish and became a teacher for Atlanta Public Schools. She also has a lounge on campus named after her. Swift’s daughter and granddaughter are both Agnes Scott alumnae as well. apnews.com
