NEWS BRIEF: Atlanta architects come out against Buckhead cityhood
Separation from Atlanta will damage all involved
A group of prominent Atlanta architects, more than two dozen strong, is lashing out against the proposed city of Buckhead. In a letter dated Feb. 7, the group stated cityhood for the area would be a major setback, adversely impacting its public school system, tax base and future development. The letter cites “the loss of the highly favorable bond interest ratings that undergird the city and the state’s ability to expand and develop.” It warns that “the community stability that is a major factor in the choice of corporations and individuals to move to Atlanta will be badly damaged.” reporternewspapers.net
