NEWS BRIEF: Senior housing site gets extensive upgrade
Preserving property creates community confidence
The lives of “hundreds of seniors” will be improved through major renovations at the Lakewood Christian Manor in Atlanta, according to a press release issued by parent company National Church Residences. The $37 million project spans 250 apartments and adds free Wi-Fi throughout the 50-year-old building. There will be a new courtyard pavilion and amenities such as an enhanced entrance lobby, brighter corridors, updated and reconfigured common spaces, and refreshed landscaping. All residential units will receive new kitchen appliances, cabinets, flooring, painted walls and renovated bathrooms. Jill Cromartie, director of development for the Georgia Department of Community Affairs, says the preservation of the property “creates a sense of confidence for our community. Furthermore, DCA is an agency that stands firmly on the principle that all people should live in quality, safe and affordable housing.” nationalchurchresidences.org
